Grappoli del Grillo selected in the VinePair’s 50 Best for 2017

VinePair, one of the best U.S. platforms to learn about wine, beer & spirits in a funny and easy way, selected our Grappoli del Grillo, vintage 2014, for their annual 50 Best Wine list for 2017.

The ranking is a summary of the best and brightest from the many bottles VinePair’s staff was lucky enough to taste in 2017. The team was enriched by contributors, and other trusted wine experts to help nominate and narrow down a list of favorites. A few criteria were installed too, to select the top 50 wines of the year. All bottles needed to be readily available in the States, and all had to be tasted in the year 2017.

The list emphasizes drinkability, interesting flavor profiles, value, and, above all, deliciousness. No more than one wine from each winery was picked and did not repeat any selections from last year’s list. After much heated discussion that fell just short of actual bottles being tossed around the room, the “drink team” came to a conclusion.

We are so proud of this inclusion and so happy to read an amazing review of our 100% Grillo grape wine, the very first in Sicily bottled as table wine and with no oxidative note or style, such as its ancestor, marsala wine:

“If you didn’t look at the label, you might think this Sicilian wine was actually white Burgundy. Made from Grillo grapes in Marsala country, careful usage of new oak does exactly what it should, adding another layer of savory richness to an already high-quality wine, rather than covering it up”.
